What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and scripts that collect information about your visit. In this policy, we call all of these “cookies.”
This Cookie Policy explains how cookies are used on wethook.com (the “Site”), run by Wethook Guide Service. It is part of our Privacy Policy.
Our approach
We keep things simple. The Site itself does not need cookies to work and does not use advertising or tracking cookies. Some features come from other companies, and those companies may set their own cookies when you use them:
- an embedded Google Map on our Contact and Lake Conroe pages;
- our online booking page (run by Acuity Scheduling at wethook.as.me) after you click a booking button; and
- an analytics tool, such as Google Analytics, if we turn one on to understand how visitors use the Site.
Cookies that may be used
Strictly necessary
Needed for a service to work, such as keeping your booking session active and secure on the booking page. These can’t be switched off in our systems, but you can block them in your browser (some features may then stop working).
Functional
Remember choices such as time zone or language on the booking page, or map settings.
Analytics
Help us count visits and see which pages and buttons are used, so we can improve the Site. If enabled, analytics information is collected in a form that does not directly identify you. Google explains how it uses this data at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Third-party embeds
Google Maps may set cookies or read your IP address when the map loads, under Google’s own policies.
Cookie list
| Provider | Purpose | Type | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Acuity Scheduling (Squarespace) | Booking session, security, payment, preferences | Necessary / functional | wethook.as.me booking page |
| Google Maps | Display the embedded map | Third-party / functional | Contact and Lake Conroe pages |
| Google Analytics (if enabled) | Count visits and button clicks | Analytics | All pages |
| Google Fonts | Deliver the Site’s fonts (no cookies, receives IP address) | Necessary | All pages |
Cookie names and lifetimes are controlled by these providers and may change. See Squarespace’s privacy policy and Google’s cookie information for details.
